About
The contents of this Web site are mine personally and do not reflect any position of the U.S. Government, the United States Peace Corps, or any organizations I am associated with.
I am currently a Peace Corps volunteer serving in South Africa through September, 2012. I am a member of the Schools and Communities Resource project. I volunteer at a local Secondary School, a nearby Educational Development Center (teacher support and training), as well as in my community. I live in a large township (all black town) in Mpumalanga Province. I like unicorns and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Before becoming a Peace Corps Volunteer, I worked in scientific research, healthcare, software development, and IT (as well as some brief forays into other fields). In my spare time I enjoy exercise, music, computers (a proud Ubuntu Linux user), writing, and creating this blog you’ve so kindly lent your eyes to. I also write in my journal every day.
I am a graduate of Northwestern University, outside of Chicago, Illinois. I have a Bachelors of Science in Communications, and a certificate in Art and Technology. I have significant coursework in the sciences.
Everyone in Africa wants to know how old I am. I refuse to tell them. It’s kind of fun.
Read my blog if you want to learn more!

Tell them to contact me. I know exactly how old you are dear. I remember the day you were born.

hello
I’m doing an ethnography project for class and I was wondering if I could interview you via email (or facebook? or whatever is convenient?) about your experience? More specifically it involves communication practices with the native people of the place you are volunteering in. It has to be an interview with someone who is currently volunteering. If you don’t have time (or resources..how often do you see a computer? ha) I understand…but if you know a volunteer who does that would be awesome. My email is [email protected]. Oh, and my name is Jackie

Go Michael!- a Peace Corps volunteer who went to Northwestern University. (I was a cherub in their high school summer program years ago!)
